It’s no secret that a sleek bun is my favorite hairstyle. In fact, it’s the opposite of a secret! It’s very rare to see me wearing my hair any other way, as I’ve now been embracing sleek buns for almost five years. Over these years, I’ve fine-tuned and perfected this hairstyle. Although many of you have requested to see my hair down more often, I rarely stray from a sleek bun because it’s the style that works for me. Today I’m excited to share more about why I love this hairstyle, a sleek hair bun tutorial, tips for perfecting this style, and outfit inspiration to wear with a sleek bun.

Why I Love a Sleek Bun

I consider my beauty and hair evolution to be just as important as my style evolution. When I first started blogging in 2010 my outfits were much different than the ones I wear today.

The start of the new year means it’s time to reflect on 2022 and think about hopes for 2023. I have to admit, I am pretty bad about this. While the new year invigorates so many, it tends to overwhelm me. This year I have decided to center on one goal for each area of my life by focusing in on one key word for each category. Simple – and hopefully effective! In the past I have focused on goals that are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound), but decided this year to try a more broad approach with purpose.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing long break and got to spend time with those you love. Let’s kick off the new year talking about a few winter transitional pieces that are closet classics. Fashion this time of year is so odd, while holiday plaid and NYE sparkle and shine have died down, true spring dressing feels so far away. I always use this month to take a long hard look at my closet and do some serious cleaning. In that process I also see what basics might need updating. Below are some of the everyday styles that I am excited about in the new year.

This holiday, our Instagram feeds were decked with celebrity family portraits and chic seasonal cards. Oh, what joy it was seeing the various coordinated outfits in red, white, shimmery silvers and golds! By the time New Year’s Eve rolled around, there were even more eye-catching looks to feast our eyes upon, so why thought why not ring in 2023 by compiling the best of them all! Here are the top celebrity Christmas and NYE looks that closed out 2022 in old-fashion holiday style:

For Christmas, the Kardashian-Jenner sisterhood got together wearing (mostly) red and white, with a hint of silver, nude and black lace. While Kim wore silver Versace and Kourtney wore Pre-Fall 2023 Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini styled by Dani Michelle to the family Christmas Eve party, Khloe arrived in custom Nicolas Jebran and Kris wore Pre-Fall 2019 Valentino. Meanwhile, Kylie stood out in a lacy Mugler

The year of 2022 promised double the fashion, double the events and double the glamor as the entire world returned to its pre-pandemic rhythm. The trend has been all about maximalism and fully executed looks, from the clothes to the hair and makeup alike, no matter the occasion big or small.

Willow Smith in Ambush at the iHeart Radio Awards

In March, Willow Smith slipped into all black everything for the iHeart Radio Awards. The full Ambush look, orchestrated by Chloe & Chenelle Delgadillo, featured a sweeping double-breasted coat, a leather miniskirt, leather thigh-high buckle platform boots, leather gloves and a spiked collar choker as the finishing touches. Punk looks good

Ladies is pimps too, and the fellas are fashionistas as well. 2022 has been a stylish year for the boys. From A$AP Rocky in Rick Owens to Offset’s rained-on Supreme look, we’ve seen some great ‘fits from Hollywood’s most fashion-forward fellas.

When it comes to suiting, Steve Harvey is the man. He’s an A-lister who’s come to be known for his sleek tailoring in an assortment of fabrics, patterns, and colors. This year Harvey put his range on display with streetwear, high-low dressing, and utilitarian looks.

Offset’s no stranger to a well-curated look. His taste is why he was selected to judge HBO’s streetwear competition series The Hype. He experiments with fit, often floating between suited looks, trendy oversize pieces, and texture. Sometimes even fusing all aesthetics for a look that’s nothing short

Celebrity style, fashion shows, lookbooks and campaigns would cease to exist without stylists. Stylists are the architects of the industry. Creating stories and trends with every look. We owe a lot to the individuals that never stopped playing dressing up.

Bella Hadid has shown immense growth since her first strut down the runway, and 2022 has been another year of being booked and busy. On top of owning Paris Fashion Week (with 11 shows in 9 days!), she starred in a dazzling Swarovski campaign and covered the April issue of Vogue.

Since the 90s, Naomi Campbell has dominated runways, magazine covers, and campaigns. She’s one of the most recognized models in the world, and even with her new step into motherhood, the supermodel’s reign has not let up. This year Campbell closed

Hey Bombers and Bombshells!

 I was thrilled to be invited to Art Week in Miami to experience a new fragrance called Coastal Mornings by Sanctuary. I received an invite and perfume bottle in the mail and was told to show up in Miami ready for a huge announcement! I was beyond juiced, as I know that Art Week is the penultimate time during the year when fashion, artist, and culture collide.  

I had never heard of Coastal Mornings and wasn’t sure what to expect. (The scent was so refreshing—and it reminded me of the sights and sounds of a leisurely beach stroll with its golden citrus and grapefruit top notes as well as its freesia, violet and green base). When we (I along with influencers Amanda of @AWStyled, Janay of High Low Luxe and @ChiziDuru) appeared at SLS Hotel, we learned that Coastal Mornings by Sanctuary
